I have just bought an Acer Aspire 3 15.6in Athlon Silver 8GB 1TB with Win10, would there be any problems if I installed Win7 as the sole OS? Are all the relevant drivers available to download? Should I try installing it on a separate partition first? Thanks.

you might get tripped up on drivers, check the acer site see if you can download them (7 doesn't get updates now, so security could be an issue)

Since there are no more updates for windows 7. Try to install as dual boot able on other drive. Also check the latest version of windows in below link. It will give you more info on Oct update of windows.

Thanks, I checked the Acer site and when I put in the model no. it just had Win10 as the only option for OS. Would those drivers be incompatible with Win7? Might they be available elsewhere?

Thanks, I'm going to give Win10 a go but if I can't disable the automatic updates effectively then I'm going to try Win7 and if that doesn't work then I might give Linux another go.

sure you can. its a good machine which you have. but is it for installing some other software? and so you want to turn off the updates? but you can try always if you have original OS disks. i mean win7 and linux
