swift sf314-42 sleep mode is not sleep mode

In Win10 settings selected sleep mode everywhere for power button, close lid...
No matter how I put the laptop to 'sleep': screen goes black, power led stays on for a while and then goes off (no blink).
When I try to 'wake' the laptop by open the lid or press power button, it takes some time before the screen is active, and then I see the startup like after shutdown. After login, there are no applications active that were active before starting 'sleep'. When starting for example adobe pdf reader again or chrome, they offer to restore previous tabs / docs because of 'suddenly closed' !?!
Can anybody help please?

What happens if you try hibernate instead?

Thanks for the tip, but it does not help. I am afraid that the problem is in the 'going to sleep' and not in the 'waking up'.

What happens if you put it to sleep then try to wake it back up in just a couple of minutes or less? Perhaps it's going past sleep into shut down too soon.

@billsey: I tried after 10 minutes and 4 minutes with same result. I was actually watching the blue led (power) behavior. When I put the laptop to sleep I tried with Zz button / lid / power button (all configured with action sleep mode) / via start - on/off - sleep: always same behavior and that is 1) screen goes black 2) blue led remains steady on 3) after a minute approximately the blue led goes steady off. If this was sleep mode, the led should blink. To me that looks like kind of shut down (like you suggest) but not in a safe way because, when I 'wake up' / power up the laptop again, the applications that were active complain about unexpected stop. Bit disappointing with nice new fast laptop where I want to continue where I left...
Hope someone has an idea how to solve this?

... and before you ask: yes when I configure power settings all with shut down, the laptop is doing normal safe shut down.

... and when I 'wake up' the laptop before the blue led goes steady off: yes I have my previous running environment immediately (because now the screen is just activated while sleep mode or shut down actually was not there yet)

Yes, hibernate works perfectly: screen goes black, and blue led goes off after 5 seconds, steady. (Wake up = ) power on: previous running environment is back, and quick, without any problems reported in active applications. So... yes I can use this :-) Did not try this because I presumed (never do that) it would be the same. Still strange sleep mode has wrong behavior, but for me the solution is now hibernat indeed. Thanks!

This Acer model has problem with Hyper-V, when it's enabled some of it's models crashes when getting to sleep and computer restarts instead. It's a known problem and it should be fixed with BIOS update to 1.09 version. But it isn't available to public at the moment.

There's a whole topic on it:

@kirmgrauza thanks for pointing to that thread. Good to read that history. Yes I have Windows 10 Home, build 19041, I am using WSL2 and have bios v1.08. And yes sleep mode has problem, yes hibernation works.
