what printer works on usb to acer laptop

found out i cloud nolongers supports hpenvy5544 printer and cant get to work via usb connection on laptop as it seems chromebook no longer supports hp envy 5544.So what do i do inorder to get back to printing???????

I’ve never hadany problems with the “brother” printers as they support all my Acer old and up to 10 year old and new laptops and desktops. Also, have you tried the HP ENVY 5544 All-in-One Printer Troubleshooting as it’s a bit strange that it doesn’t work as I've got a brother HL2140 mono laser printer that is older than the Envy 5544 and it works perfectly within Win-10, you must have your Envy 5544 setup incorrectly go through their troubleshooting page that I’ve given you the link above for.

Hi Steven,yes have tried all hp trouble shooting.The printer just stopped printing,then i foung red triangle by printer on i cloud saying no longer supported.I have chromebase laptop and it still wont work with usb.

Rather than sync to iCloudand use airprint, your model should support Google aloud print (I'm assuming anyway as most do)

It works the same as airprint just using Google servers instead, give that a shot

what are you talking about?airprint is for apple

You mention that it no longer supports I cloud, i assumed you meant you are using the cloud print feature but via apple rather than Google?

no using cloud print by google.Printer stopped working jan 5th up till the ok for last 2years.

Does the os still have the printers option? Settings -> Advanced - Printing -> Printers. You should be able to add a direction connection to the up address of the printer in there

You have to reconnect to the printer within the ChromeOS now that Google's cloud print has been shut down. I don't believe it does that automatically, you have to choose the printer again.

Yes tried all that beggining to think the printer  is faulty as i cant just COPY as the paper comes out blank,so it seems the printer is knackered at the same time cloud got shut down.so will buy new printer.

Yeah, a lank page when trying a copy tells you the jets are clogged up. Not unusual if the printer has been sitting for a long time, especially without power connected.

have cleaned the cartridges and aligned paper but no good.

Luckily with an HP the print head is part of the cartridge, so just a replacement cartridge should get you back printing and copying. You can go ahead and attempt more cleaning cycles to try and recover this one, but if all else fails a new one should do it.
