Hello everyone,

I've got my Swift 3 for a few days now and it works really good. But, this morning my microphone stopped working. When in a Teams-meeting, nobody can hear me when I'm speaking. Does anybody know how to solve this?

I've had a similar problem with my previous 2014 Aspire E1. The camera suddenly stopped working with that laptop.

Problem solved. I guess it just needed a Windows update...

The microphone is working now, but the volume of the mic is really low. How can I fix this? In the settings the volume is already at 100%.

Your microphone doesn't work at all? Then you might have to do an update. My microphone is now working, but the volume is very low, so others have to put their audio volume up and I have to speak loud so they can hear me. Anyone has a solution for this?

Update: when I use the microphone of my earbugs, everybody can hear me clear and loud, but when using the standard microphone (Intel Smart Sound Technology for Digital Microphones) the volume is very low. I guess the microphone is just very bad on this laptop.

Or the Intel software isn't doing it's job. :( I've seen a couple of different issues with those drivers in the last six months...

Is there a solution for this issue?

My solution was to disable the two audio drivers from Intel in the Sound section of Device Manager. But that might not be the same for you.

Hi, I am having the same (or similar) problem with my Acer Swift SF314-59. I tried some things. Nothing worked. Took the laptop back to the brick and mortar store I got it from. They didn't have a solution, so they ended up replacing it with another one, exact same model. Second laptop is exactly the same.

The microphone is registering my voice at a very low volume (see attached pic, in red text: about 21% being the highest volume registered during a microphone test). So far, this has been problematic continuously with Skype, and not with another video chat app on one occasion. I have tried a bunch of things, including the most recent Windows Tuesday patch, and nothing has worked.

I saw this thread because someone trying to help me on the Community forum on Microsoft (see link below) referred me here. Does anyone have any other ideas? Please feel free to visit the link below and to click on "I have the same problem." I hope if more people indicate this, more attention may be brought to bear on it.

As there have been no postings here for about a week, I'm wondering if people have found their own solutions, or if they've just taken a break. There is an 'accepted answer' above, but it seems that same user noted afterward that there was still a volume problem. I'm hoping someone can provide more guidance. Thanks very much!

There's quite a simple solution to this problem. You have to download and install a virtual cable from this website: https://vb-audio.com/Cable/. After installation switch to this "Cable Output (VB-Audio Virtual Cable)" in the sound-menu. Also do this in MS Teams or other programs you use. This should solve the problem, at least it did for me.

After trying other methods, i at least managed the microphone to work with the headset. In my case, it was important that a tick a checkbox "allow apps to use your microphone" under Settings (win+I) -> Privacy -> Microphone. Also, I needed to make sure the app I want to use it with (e.g. Skype) is also ticked on in the list under the first checkbox.

Not sure it helped me, I also found a solution to a similar problem for Acer Aspire, where the solution was to go to Task Manager (ctrl+alt+del), and then in "Services" to restart both Windows-Audio and Windows-Audio-Endpoint-Builder. I tried that just before the solution I listed above, so maybe it also made an impact

The permissions were much more likely to be the cause...

    Hello everyone,

I have the same issue with my Swift 314-59.
Initially it works well with my jabra headphone mic for half a year.  Then it starts to hang whenever I'm using with my zoom.
I swiched to my apple earphone with mic, works for a while then I can only hear but the other party cannot hear me speaking.
I bought another jabra model, again it doesn't work.
I bought a boya mic, again it doesn't work.  (I used Jbl as speaker.)
I update my window as and when being notified.  So it was not a window update issues.

Do anyone know of any solution to it?

    Thank you.

Have you verified the apps have permissions to use the mic?
