Looking for best SD card to boost my new Spin 13 (2019 model, 64GB internal storage, 8GB RAM).

Hello, just ordered a used Spin 13 from Ebay, never even used a Chromebook at all before. Went this route after my old PC laptop (Windows) and Samsung Note Pro 12.2 died the same day, leaving me with no computer devices except my phone. Mostly I only do the basics: word processing, surfing the web, reading the news online, streaming movies (mostly TCM; I'm a dinosaur); but with one exception: a research project involving scanning and reading thousands of pages of documents. I opted for the Spin 13 mainly for the screen and that as a convertible I can read music off it on the piano (perfect aspect ration for that, as well as reading documents and writing).

Based strictly on the above (and so far unmentioned severe financial plight, extremely limited $ resources), if I were going to invest another $15-25 (may $40, max) in an SD card to give the biggest boost (right now focused on the thpusands of scanned pages I want at my fingertips, even offline), and dozens of Kindle books too (forgot to mention above), what SD will give me most bang for my buck, hopefully bringing this to the level of the Acer 713 128GB I really wanted, or even beyond that?

Obviously I'm fairly unsophisticated about computers, kniw nothing about SD cards, never used one. Do they make a 64GB computer the same as a 128GB one just by adding a 64GB card? In what ways yes, what ways no? Will it fit entirely inside the device without sticking out? Again, any answers, super super super super appreciated, should be based strictly on what I've written above. If you had to rank purchases (on ebay, not necessarily retail price), what will give biggest bang for my buck, value for money? Will spend on the higher end of 15-40, but only if the gains in power and performance far far better than $25 in other words. Every dollar counts in my situation, but no problem with $40 if it makes my machine monster-powerful.

Thank you so, so, so (x 500) much more any feedback; under a lot of stress over replacing my original computer, nervous about transitioning to Chromebook and what I may be giving up. Anything to make this a truly positive step, super, super appreciated. Thank you so very much again, for **any** helpful information and tips!

Best wishes,
Andrew

It's not exactly the same, but yes you can add the SD card and use it as extra storage. There isn't really any limit to the size except the current technology and your pocket book, though there is a possibility the fastest cards may not run at their fastest speed. There will be no performance boost by just adding more storage, but it does allow the system to be useful longer, especially if you are going to store lots of downloaded data. Similar to a phone, you just make sure to use the SD card storage when you pull data down and it won't use more of the onboard storage.
