Within weeks of (apparently) warrantee lapse, Predator Helios 300 shuts off w puff of smoke!

My Predator Helios 300, which has been relatively problem-free for the past 2 years, just shut off suddenly, with smoke curling up from the lid, and a funny smell.

However, whatever caused this to happen, I'm fairly certain it wasn't overheating. I keep it clean of dust and lint, I have it sitting on a 6 fan cooling stand, and when it shut off, I felt above the keyboard where it may typically be inclined to get warm, and it's cool to the touch.

Unfortunately, I entered my SNID in the system attempting to contact support, and it informed me that I'm no longer covered. Can anything be done to help me?

You have to contact acer since your problem is really serious. I dont think any laptop is supposed to shut down giving out smoke since it poses a major threat your life too. You can open the laptop and have a look at the motherboard to see if anything is burnt visibly.
