Ram Compatibility Acer Nitro 5 AN515-42

Hi. Can a 1rx16 DDR4 2666mhz ram work together with 1rx8 DDR4 2666mhz ram ? Or is it not compatible ? I have Acer Nitro 5 AN515-42 and it has a 4gb 1rx16 DDR4 2666mhz installed ram. Im planning to add atleast 8gb ram and I want to know if it is possible for a 1rx16 to work with 1rx8 memory module. Thankyou!

    It will work. 1rx16 or 1rx8 is just about the amount of chip on each side of the ram.

    As long as both memory modules are the same speed/timing as they can’t be different, you will get 'dual channels' the manufacturer doesn’t matter. The example below is for an old Aspire V3-571G of dual channel 2x 4GB of the same speed/timing and this is also from the same manufacturer that works perfectly but, manufacturer doesn’t have to be the same but preferable, also 2x for laptops and 4x for desktop memory kits are preferable as they are manufactured and matched similarly which gives a dual channel memory a big advantage.
