Audio Driver Crashes on CB514-1H Series

Several of our staff members have a CB514 Chromebook. The audio driver abruptly crashes and can only be turned back on by either
- Performing a powerwash (does not always fix it)
- Factory reset (seems to always fix it temporarily)

The issue can reappear a week after a factory reset on some and not on others. We have no idea what is causing it.

Any suggestions on how to fix this permanently?

that sounds to me a Google update issue, as you say that Factory reset fixes the issue but then come back, meaning that when the auto google updates are performed it happens again because something in the updates is causing it, i say your best bet is to report it to Google Chrome support itself and open a ticket with them, usually on the next update that will be fix when ever they launch it do, but again it might broke something else lol, unfortunately that how Google works sometimes ;)

It would be worthwhile to bring the question up before the Google folks as Cocui13 suggests. That way they can get it fixed and into one of the next few updates.
