Acer Nitro 5 (2019) AN515-43 CPU Repaste didn't change anything

So after a long while of deciding whether to risk repasting my laptop or not, I decided to do it. It actually went really well and I managed to learn a little more about how my laptop works and where the airflow goes to.

Anyways, I lifted the fan up and wiped the thermal paste off of the CPU + GPU. I did a short stripe on the GPU and a dot on the CPU (I based the size of them off of a youtube video.). I closed it up and ran CS:GO immediately, and it played really well for 5 minutes, only to go back up to 90°C. And of course the problem is that when it hits 90°C, the laptop drops the CPU performance in order to cool it down; dropping my FPS with it. As I am typing this, the laptop is idling at 60°C with 24% usage, and when I run CS:GO the usage is at 20% consistently.

Whilst playing CS:GO the CPU stays between 90
°C and 92°C
Whilst playing CS:GO the GPU stays between 80°C and 90°C
Whilst idling the CPU stays between 60°C and 70°C

I have been running the laptop on balance mode as High-Performance is unplayable. Cool boost is also on. Playing at Max Fan speed helps by reducing the amount of frame drops, but they still occur too often to play any games.

Was I meant to replace the pink pads? I didn't want to ruin the heating by taking them off and adding thermal paste as a replacement. It also looked like a different consistency so I left it.

A lot of people on reddit and this forum site spoke about having 60°C temperatures which is really confusing me because I'm not exactly sure where I went wrong. And I highly doubt that a laptop cooling pad would do anything.
