Hi

I have a new 2020 helios 300, i10750h and RTX2070 max q.
I get pretty average FPS at best, but currenly am testing GTAV and get around 50FPS, but sometimes down to 25FPS.

Does anyone have any ideas? I've done all the usual driver updates, Nvidia control panel settings, Power performance plans, and ingame settings and can't get much improvement.

User benchmarks gives good scores all across the board except for memory kit. I'm not really sure what this means, but is this the main culprit? Any idea how to fix?

Thank you in advance.

UserBenchmarks: Game 76%, Desk 92%, Work 68%
CPU: Intel Core i7-10750H - 88.2%
GPU: Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070 with Max-Q Design - 85.4%
SSD: WDC PC SN730 SDBQNTY-256G-1014 256GB - 172%
HDD: Seagate ST1000LM049-2GH172 1TB - 91.2%
RAM: Hynix HMAA2GS6AJR8N-XN 1x16GB - 47.9%
MBD: Acer Predator PH315-53

    Hi Gishin,

    Problem:
"User benchmarks gives good scores all across the board except for memory kit. I'm not really sure what this means, but is this the main culprit? Any idea how to fix?"

    Solution (potential):
It might be due to the fact that you have only one memory module (16 GB) located in one slot of your H300 (as I understand userbenchmark's result from your post).
In order to run smoothly while playing games, you should use so called "dual channnel" memory it means second memory slot should be upgraded with memory module (the best the same). This will significantly increase performace in games (some more and some less, but always min 30%), please see the same topic mentioned under the link (you can translate it into English):
    https://www.purepc.pl/test-pamieci-ddr4-single-channel-vs-dual-channel-w-laptopie?page=0,2

Additionally, dependig on memory module, you also need to set up in your H300 BIOS: JEDEC/PnP (I guess for AMD CPU) or XMP Profile (Intel CPU) which activates proper handling of memory - it means its correct/max speed like 3200 or 2933 MHz.

Alternatively, you can search by key phrases: "dual channel" vs "single channel" and "XMP Profile".

    Tinkerer

"Power performance plans" - 99% CPU max usage? If yes, then you have disabled turbo, an in crowded location you can experience lower FPS. It can be one of many causes. Check that.

    Hi,

    just to update my comment:
I have just bought H300 PH317-54 with GPU 2070 Q-max, CPU 10750H and 16 GB in 2 slots by 8 GB with ddr4 -3200 dual channel Hynix (each ram chip is single rank).
In GTA V, I set up the highest video settings and on laptop's screen (240 Hz) and extreme mode got over 122 FPS (top right corner):

So problem is only with memory config, not your machine. BIOS seems to not support XMP profiles (or I'm not aware of it yet) so please be careful with such memory packages types.

    Cheers.
