How to Mark a Category as "Read"

How do I mark the threads as "read"? I found the "Mark category as viewed" by clicking the Settings gear, but the "New" word still appears next to each thread. All 175 of them...

    The button you mention did that for me, cog ->  mark category as read. Caused a little pop up in the bottom left, after re freshing all the new tags had gone. I'd check the network console in f12 to see if its not working

    Thank you for your help. I was confused because the thread titles remain bolded. In most forums, thread titles of unread threads are bolded and then are unbolded after they are read or marked as "read".
