I own the exact same model, that said its kinda difficult to recommend anything without know what specifically you are playing & what you are hoping to see.
Personally i upgraded my ram to 32gb(16gb is more than enough for game)
    Installed a M.2 NVME: Intel Optane 905p 1tb
    added a Samsung 870 evo ssd 1tb
replaced the stock wifi card with a Killer 1550(doubles througpacket accuracy & significantly reduces latency. especially if you use it in tandem with the ethernet port)
replaced the Stock Screen with a new 120hz way more color accurate aftermarket display(its like $75 and it makes everything much easier on the eyes)

Repasted the CPU and GPU with TG Conductornaut
I then undervolted my cpu to -135mv with Intel XTU (brought my core load temps down by 15 degrees centigrade)
undervolted/overclocked the gtx 1050 w/ MSI Afterburner (its really just making the gpu hit max performance much earlier on, you cant really change any voltages. But you can change the fan curve which will bump max clock speed @ much lower voltages when the card goes active)
I run intel optane so i had to setup my nvme & ram to ultra performance mode(this really only applies if you have intel optane, otherwise disregard)
    -----------------------------------------------
Uninstalled Realtek audio SST and installed Modded Realtek audio with Dolby Atmos & Nahmic 3(fixes issues with windows always wanting to install older drivers, plus they come with dolby atmos and nahmic built in for free)
Disabled as many Services as possible(why win10 needs to have 140+ processes running idk... but i fixed that real quick)
Made sure to disable as many unneeded task in Task Scheduler(cuts down cpu occupancy and latency)
Nuked all the Xbox stuff but left Game Mode intact and on(has been proven to boost game performance)
Disabled Windows update, Windows Update Orchestra, Windows Update Medic(Windows is not your friend, let it update and you're screwed)
Edited Registry by adding an exception to windows networking(add exception/set to 0/ forces windows to disregard sending or receiving user data, helps to keep that keylogger MS baked into win10 in check)

Probably the easiest and by far the best thing you can do right now, clean out your fans and heatsink!
for reference: when i first got this laptop i couldnt even play destiny @ 1080p on low/30 fps without hitting the thermal throttle limiter of CPU:85c GPU:95c.
after much upgrades, trial and error, dabbling and experimenting I can play Destiny on High 1080p @ 90 fps and never get above 67 degrees centigrade on both the CPU/GPU.
(oh one last thing: you need to get the modded Nitro Sense for our model, acer coolboost is nice and all, but nitro sense allows you control fan speeds and profiles while coolboost is active. yes its modded, bc our model is excluded but every other model isnt, go figure)
