Hey there,

I've got some tea in my Acer Aspire E5 771G.. Then I couldn't start it anymore and the battery lamp was flashing like when the battery is low.
I opened it and as the battery was a bit damp I ordered a new battery.
Now I can start the Notebook without any problems when it's on external power supply only.
When battery is in, the battery lamp says it'd be charching and after a while it begins to flash again.
Trying to start the notebook on external power supply with inserted battery: fan & flash disk are hearable, screen gets on - but remains black, no way to enter BIOS at least..
So far I tried a battery reset by pressing ON and the battery reset on the back of the notebook for longer..

Would be really happy if anyone has an idea!

Greetings

    >>>battery was a bit damp>>>

Did mainboard and its components underneath seem wet as well? Jack E/NJ

No, everything else seemed to be dry and obviously also still works very fine (when battery's not in..)

Open DeviceManager without the battery installed. Click 'batteries' folder. Right click and uninstall ALL device drivers you find in this folder. Exit Device Manager without trying to re-install anything. The open Control Panel. Search 'button'. Click 'change what  the power buttons do' in left pane. Click 'change settings that are currently unavailabe'. Scroll down and uncheck the box for fast startup if not unchecked already. Save. Shutdown Windows normally. Remove charger. Then plug the battery pack back in. Plug the charger back in. Wait till the battery charge LED  turns to steady blue again. Then try to turn it on. Jack E/NJ

Does it stay steady orange for a longer period before flashing again if you unplug the charger for a few minutes, then plug it back in? Jack E/NJ

Not sure if I got you right.
So installing the battery it starts flashing immediately.
Plugging the charger in, the LED is steady orange for approximately 3 mins, then starts to flash again.
Also after unplugging it flashes, until I plug the charger back in.

If both the new & old battery LED is flashing orange without the charger being plugged in, then yes the mainboard has been contaminated with tea residue. The only reason the mainboard seemed dry was its component heat evaporated the water. Was it plain or sweetened? Jack E/NJ

    The tea was plain.

I think you must dismantle the laptop and remove the mainboard to gain access to both sides where the tea liquid might've reached. Then moisten a soft cloth with isopropyl rubbing alcohol and carefully swab-down mainboard components & connectors that might have come in contact with tea and ion contaminants in tap water. These contaminants must be removed as they are obviously affecting battery charging. Perhaps even immersing the entire board in a shallow pan of rubbing alcohol might be more effective in removing these contaminants.  Jack E/NJ

ok thank you so much, really! how big do you think are my chances that it will work afterwards? And how big are the chances on the other side that there happened a short circuit or so and it`s irreparable damage now?

Tea residue has oxidizable tannins  & tap water dissolved minerals that can eventually cause further damage to board solder contacts if not removed. So  I think it's important to cleanse and dry the board as soon as possible even though collateral damage from cleaning is also possible. Jack E/NJ
