Travelmate 2000. 2gb, 120hd, wifi, BT, T60M665,00 modem.windows 7, home 32 bit.
I have updated the laptop to maximum spec and everything works fine, if not a bit slow and creaky but,, WIFI works fine, although the modem is there in device manager as Agere system AC97 modem the Bluetooth does not work or show up in DM, no icon on screen. The two buttons for WIFI and Bluetooth that used to work no longer work. I could plug in a Bluetooth dongle but I have problems getting the right driver to work is hard too, anyway, I have the correct modem plugged in, I even bought a new one to be sure. Ethernet side of it is there.
So any greybeards out there know the answer?

We don't have access to a cross reference with the vendor's part number. The Acer number is 54.09061.001 and that can be researched. As I believe I said before, likely the XP drivers that controlled what those buttons do have not be updated to work with W7, or a W7 update removed them due to incompatibility. I know of no solution.

Boy, that one is old enough I don't have a service guide for it. Those older laptops that had Bluetooth often had the Bluetooth on a daughter card separate from the WiFi, unlike modern ones where they are both on the same card. The Acer part number for the Bluetooth board seems to be 54.09061.001, search on that to see if any are still available. It might be easier/cheaper to just buy a second hand computer that's newer...

I did say, "I have the correct modem plugged in", means I have a  54.09061.001 or at least a T60M665,00  in the laptop already. in fact I have two.
Is there a version that has Acer firmware to operate the buttons? I have downloaded every driver appertaining to the T60M665,00 board, Ambit etc and from the Acer download site but that only covers windows XP not windows 7, 32 bit and still only the Ethernet side works or shows up on the DM.

I was wondering if it was firmware. because when I got the laptop the two preprogramed buttons would bring up 'BLUETOOTH' and 'WIRELESS' on the bottom right of the screen when pressed although the T60M665.00 was not fitted at the time. Only since upgrading to windows 7 from XP and fitting maximum upgrades allowed have I had two dead buttons and no Bluetooth but the Ethernet on the same modem OK.

Would help if some expert could help please.

I believe that T60M665 is the Ambit part number for the Acer 54.09061.001. When you upgraded from XP to Windows 7 you probably lost the software that was running to give you the button functions. Ethernet is on the motherboard, not on the daughter card that does Bluetooth.

When I remove the daughter card T60M665.00 i loose the Ethernet modem too.  What 'software' could I have "lost" that enabled the buttons, I have downloaded all the Acer stuff but of course that is for Windows XP.

I really cannot revert to XP as I am running Delphi 2015r3 car diagnostics and that is for Windows 7 but does need Bluetooth to work.

Gone dark on me?  Is there a differnce between T60M665.00 and T60M283.10? Just a thought as both are listed on the Travelmate service parts.

The cross reference numbers are in the technical manual.
