It says under bluetooth devices that the headphones are paired yet no sound comes out and there is no way to select the headphones when clicking on the speaker icon. Headphones work fine connected to other devices. I am not a computer expert so I'm not even sure what else I should be looking for to make them work.

Right click the speaker icon. Click sound settings. Click choose your output device and change it from speakers to BT headphone. Jack E/NJ

Under "choose your output device" there is only the option for the Realtek Audio speakers. The headphones do not show up as an option.

Can you post a side-by-side screenshot of this headphone pairing with the sound output device dropdown at the same time? Because it seems  like the headphones are actually unpaired by the time you look at the sound output dropdown.  Jack E/NJ

    There
There is nothing in the drop down box under sound output except the speakers. I look at the Bluetooth devices and it's paired. The headphones are on They work on my phone. I turned off the connection on my phone but I'm still not getting the headphones to work.

Try disabling the realtek speakers by clicking on the device properties in sound settings. Jack E/NJ

Well I disabled the speakers and now there are no sound output devices to choose from. It just won't find the bluetooth headphones even though the system says they are working.

Go back to device properties button and turn them back on. Then open Device Manager. Any red or yellow warnings? Jack E/NJ

Thanks for your help with this. There are no red or yellow warnings. I went over to the Bose community site and it seems others with this headphone are having the same issue, for quite some time, and there has been no resolution. I guess if I want to use the headphones on this PC I'll have to use the cable.

What other devices? Do you have a link to the most pertinent Bose forum? Jack E/NJ

The headphones connect and work with my phone and iPad. They worked on my old Surface tablet as well. Didn't have a problem until I bought this Acer laptop. OMG, I just fixed it. I don't know how but I tried to pair again and the Bose headphones came up with a headphone icon instead of something else and I clicked on that to pair and it worked. Gads I'm such a noob.

Congrats. Thanks for reporting back. Make sure System Protection is enabled in Control Panel's restore point app. Just in case automatic Win10 updates may be causing intermittent BT issues like this. They can more easily be identified and temporarily blocked. Jack E/NJ
