Hi,

I have a problem with my Acer G247HYL. There are horizontal lines on the lower half of the screen. It suddenly happens and I have no idea what's causing it. The screen is temporarily but regularly dimming too, and when it happens the screen freezes for 1-2 seconds. I have no problem with the system (GPU and everything) so I can rule out my system. It happens even after I remove the HDMI cable and turn on the monitor. Any idea how to fix this? Right now I have no other monitor and I need to work so I'm really looking forward to restore this monitor back to normal.

If it's happening even with the video cable disconnected then it's a hardware fault in the monitor and will require repair or replacement. :(

Oh God, that's what I was afraid of. I really need an IPS monitor right now and I don't think Acer would repair this monitor. I mean from what I heard, many people said Acer service center will not repair monitors, only replace parts from products with warranty.

    I gather it's out of warranty? :(

Yeah, unfortunately. And to make things worse, I have so many deadlines and not enough spare monitor (less than 1).  :s

One strange thing is this monitor dims and freeze its screen once exactly every ten seconds. Is this some kind of power saving feature or something? Is there a way to disable the dimming thing and prevent the monitor to dim and freeze the screen once every ten seconds?

Boy, I'd have to go through the OSD menu choices to see if anything is in there. ten seconds is way to often for something like a sleep settings, I'd think.
