    >>>one month ago one of the hinges broke. I continued to used the laptop no problems, but last week as i was watching something the display turned of, i closed and reopened the lid and it was working again, but after few hours the same happened and the display didn’t want to turn on anymore. >>>

Did the broken hinge put any pressure or touch any conductor traces on the inverter board or the mainboard? Jack E/NJ
Nothing unusual in device manager. No it was the left hinge. The hinge broke in the middle, just at the bolt that is bolting it to the display back cover, not even close to the main board.

How many gpus do you see in DeviceManager's display adapter folder? Jack E/NJ

Both of my gpus are visible, intel graphics i think 470 or 670 not sure and nvidia 940mx. I started a game and via the nvidia control panel made it run only on the GeForce graphics card, was running perfectly normal.

The problem still seems to be between the inverter board connector and the gpu. The only things in between are the new ribbon cable itself, its end connectors and the mainboard solder connections/ traces to the cpu/gpu.

Your original description with the old cable definitely sounded like a intermittent break in one or more cable traces in the hinge area. This is a quite common reason for the screen failure. Assuming the new cable is fine, then it's either the end connectors or the mainboard. In my opinion, the more likely reason is that the cable end connector contacts are either still not properly aligned or not mating well with the corresponding connector contacts on the inverter board or mainboard.

Hello, so i found a similar Acer laptop, i removed the screen and saw that the cable is the same. I put my new display on the other laptop and it was working... so i guess it is something with the connector or the motherboard... i don’t understand... any ideas?

    >>> the cable is the same.>>>

Now check out the new cable in the similar ACER laptop. It could be bad even though new. Jack E/NJ
