So I turned on my laptop and got a blank screen and a red light, popped in the charger and got a blue light but now it won’t power on, changed the power socket but still no luck, tried the pinhole battery reset for different amounts of seconds and holding down the power button but still it will not power on. It was only bought this year, desperately seeking help to turn on this laptop

Remove charger again. Press and hold the paperclip into the reset hole for 60seconds. Then plug the charger back in but don't try to turn the machne on until the battery charge LED changes from steady orange to steady blue. Only then try to turn it on again. If still no joy, click this and arrange for warranty service. Jack E/NJ

So eventually the laptop would turn on but would only show a black screen, no acer logo or start up, I tried connecting to the tv but no luck; so did the paper clip trick and now it won’t turn on at all and there are no lights at all,

Sounds like the springloaded reset switch got stuck in the down position. Insert and release the paperclip again to try to get it to pop back up. If you get it to turn back on, try pressing the FN+F6 toggle key combo to try to turn the screen on. Or FN+F5 to try to turn the HDMI TV screen on. Jack E/NJ

Thanks for the help but looks like it is completely dead now, I can feel the button depress when I put the pin in so it’s not stuck down but now I have no lights no power at all. Not sure what to do now. :(

There is another springloaded safety interlock switch on some mainboards that cuts all power to the mainboard if the bottom cover is removed, misaligned with the top cover or otherwise not pressing hard enough against this safety switch. It's usually located around the RAM sockets but the bottom cover must be removed to locate it. The fix is usually either tightening up the bottom cover or taping a spacer to the inside of the bottom cover so it presses harder against the safety switch to keep it in the on position.  Jack E/NJ

Thanks not sure I should start removing and unscrewing incase I break it beyond repair and void any warranties.

Is the laptop still under warranty? Standard warranty is one year. Extended warranties are not always available and are extra cost. Jack E/NJ

I only bought it in April so should still be, however trying to use this site I can’t find it able to use in the UK.
