AN515‑53‑55G9 Goes into a broken sleep mode for no reason.

When I close lid to the laptop, after approximately 2 minutes it will go into a sleep mode where I cannot awaken the PC (laptop still has power, keyboard still lights up, fans run, just impossible to awake... also loses Network connectivity). It has to be hard shutdown, and restarted. The power options are set to no sleep mode, and to do nothing when the lid is closed. 

I have tried resetting the battery and running the power troubleshooter to no avail. Have done virus scans, SFC/ Scannow etc etc. I'm at a loss as to what to try next.

The laptop is used as a plex server, so it needs to be running pretty much all the time.

Any help/advice is greatly appreciated!

It`s a poor ACPI implementation for all new Acer  laptops. Linux shows it as a  ACPI BIOS error (bug).

Good info! Any idea on how to resolve it though? I'm using the most current BIOS.

Yes, but you will not like the idea. To the point: Acer have to get enough complains in order to fix the BIOS, so maybe there is hope... If you wonder what POWS means from my previous post - it is power state, so when it resumes from a power state (lets say S3 for example) the OS kernel is not able to read the AML(ACPI Machine Language) codes due to poor BIOS ACPI deployment and the system hangs. So until Acer fix it or not I suggest you to disable all of the power states except S0(Power ON) and S5(S5 is Power OFF so no way to disable it) while the OS is running to avoid system hangs. In other words just disable sleep mode, suspend to ram, hibernate and so on.

Thanks Batmalin,

I disabled hibernate. Not sure how to do S3 though. I found a registry edit here: https://superuser.com/questions/1342530/windows-10-sleeps-with-all-settings-disabling-it. But I don't seem to have the "Attributes" file to edit. Is there another way of disabling S3?

Just set the lid open/close to do nothing and the sleep button(if any dedicated) as well

Unfortunately that doesn't fix it either. A couple mins after lid is closed, it still goes to an un-wakeable sleep Any other ideas?

The only way to do this properly is to disable it at a BIOS level, sadly the BIOS is locked and the option is hidden from you. You could look at fhe BIOS mods forums to check how to flash unlocked one(you could brick the laptop thou). Other than that I am out of ideas.
