Hi guys, what SSD drive would you recommend to upgrade to 1TB?
And what cloning software do you prefer to copy to the new drive?

Laptop is an Acer Swift 3 (SF314-42-R1FV)

I have my eye on these two:
Samsung --> www.amazon.ca/dp/B07BN217QG/
Crucial --> www.amazon.ca/dp/B07J2Q4SWZ/

Not sure if it's worth spending more for the Samsung, not sure if the chipset can take advantage of the higher speed memory.

Thank you,

Sal.

  • Hi,
    You can use Macrium reflect free for cloning, as for the M.2 SSD, Samsung and Crucial are both good drives but Samsung fares better in benchmarks, you won't notice the difference under normal operation, you have only 2 lanes enabled for PCIe, so you will get half the speed advertised by the manufacturers.

    I’ve been using Samsung SSD’s for years and they are the most reliable and speedy around also, their cloning software called “Data Migration” is the simplest and best and takes minutes, which I can vouch for as I’ve cloned many systems with this software. I’ve also used the ‘Macrium Reflect” which is also an excellent cloning software as brummyfan2 is recommending, its up to you.
