Hi

I disabled the Acer Crystal Eye webcam on my Acer Aspire 7741G Laptop using Device Manager expecting to be able to enable it again later.  Unfortunately when I look in Device Manager to re-enable it, it does not appear in the list any more.

If I go to the software program it won't open saying it is not installed.  There is no software or driver available on the Acer site so I expect the driver is Windows 7 software.  How can I obtain and reinstall the software/drivers for this hardware.

Regards

Eric

Did you perhaps disable it when the machine was still on Win7? Jack E/NJ

I have always had and still have Windows 7 Home 64-bit on this Laptop. I use for the many pieces of software that I use regularly but which don't work on Windows 10.  This Laptop also hasn't got the hardware required to run Windows 10 efficiently which is why I didn't take advatage of the free upgrade when it was offered.  Anyway, I have another Laptop with Windows 10 for general use althought I hate this software - full of bloatware and far too complex for my needs.

Good. Try this. Google "pc.rar" "amazon". Download, decompress the rar archive and install it. See if it detects and revives the camera. Jack E/NJ

I don't understand how an RAR Application (for unzipping files) can help.  Could you explain.

Since the above I have solved the problem.  Went into Device Manager>View by Connection and found an entry called USB Composite device-Disabled.  When I clicked on it, it was my webcam, which I then enabled.  After a restart, it reappeared in Device manager as it should.  I then ran my Acer eRecovery softwtare and found an entr7y to reinstall the OEM Software, which I then did.  Now all is well and another gem of information learned.  i am a happy bunny once again.
