What are my options on rebuilding my Windows 10 laptop?
Details : Model - E5-575-5476
SNID - XXXX

My laptop was terribly slow and it has signs of HDD failure, I have backed up my data and I am thinking to upgrading the laptop to a 500GB SSD for faster performance. Unfortunately i never had a recovery backup image created when i first bought this laptop.. Kindly help me on how do i re-build this laptop from fresh.. meaning how can i load windows 10 on my laptop if i don't have a image??
any help would be appreciated

thanks

The best is to do a “Clean Install” of Win-10, I don’t know if your OEM HDD is still working with Win-10? If your Win-10 OS is usable then you need to go to the Microsoft site here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10 then go to “Create Windows 10 installation media” section and use Download tool now to create a Win-10 bootable installation USB with your E5-575-5476 laptop as that will do an installation USB to boot with your current BIOS that your E5-575-5476 has. As doing it with another computer that has an MBR/Legacy BIOS the installation Win-10 boot USB won't work. Also, its always best to leave your BIOS at GPT/UEFI and not change it in BIOS to an MBR/Legacy by disabling "Secure Boot".

If you only have another computer that has the MBR/Legagy BIOS to do a Win-10 installation USB then look at these guides “How to install Windows 10 from USB with UEFI support” here: https://www.windowscentral.com/how-create-windows-10-usb-bootable-media-uefi-support and do an installation Win-10 USB from this guide, then install Win-10 and after go to the “Windows 10 October 2020 Update” and use this tool Update now to update to the latest Win-10 version and OS build. Then you can put your personal backed up files onto the new and upgraded Win-10 operating system, simple.

Next time and always use a backup software, the best and the simplest in my opinion is “Macrium Reflect v7.xx” as this software has a bootable type USB or a system embedded pre boot recovery option that you can boot from and restore your backed up Win-10 OS from your backup media.
