My Swift 5 (SF514-54GT) has just come back from repair - having had a new wifi card and Bios update.

I've just realised that there is only 256GB of SSD available rather than 512GB. Assuming this is the same disk, how do I unlock the rest for use?

Right-click the unallocated space and click NEW VOLUME. Also, can you provide the exact model of the laptop? Example SF514-54GT-58VH.

There is just the one drive. It was bought as a 512GB...
Just checked the spec...it was bought as 1TB...that was the biggest available. It's been a long few months  =)

    Hi,
Yes, you can right click the unallocated space and create a new volume, give it a drive letter, you can use NTFS system for storage, if you want you can leave an unallocated space of 10-20GB at the end of the drive.

  • Hi,
You have a 1TB drive and 715GB unallocated space, do you have only a 1TB HDD? Could you please go to Device manager, expand Disk drives and post the snip.

Its a Swift 5 SF514-54GT-74LV. Is it OK to use the whole "space" it allows 732571MB? And NTFS or exFAT? Whats better? Likely to use for files...

Thanks very much to both of you.

Didn’t want to do anything hasty as I spent yesterday putting everything back on after the repair and Windows reinstall. Thought that was the answer, but seemed too easy  =)
  • You are welcome too.
