The camera driver comes with Windows, so there was no need to also put it on Acer's support site. It sounds however like your camera isn't being seen by the system at all. That is more likely to be a hardware issue, I believe. Either the camera cable that tuns through the hinge area has broken, gotten pulled loose from it's connectors at either end, or the module itself is bad. I'm guessing from the age of the laptop that it is no longer in warranty?

So the next step involves taking the laptop apart. If you aren't comfortable with that it's likely time to find a technician local to you. If you are comfortable, there are something like fifteen screws holding the bottom case on. One of those also holds the ODD in place and once it's gone you can just pull the drive out. Once the CD drive is out you should be able to remove that bottom cover. Now is the time to inspect the cable that runs between the camera and the motherboard. I believe the camera wires are included in the eDP cable that also has the display signals in it and it comes through near the left side hinge. Look closely at where it connects to the motherboard to verify it's fully seated and where it sits near the hinge to see if there's any visible damage. If everything looks OK the next step is to disassemble the display. It looks like you can take the hinge screws out of the bottom case and then the bezel around the display unsnaps without more screws. You can typically use something like an old credit card to gently pry that apart. Once you have that apart you will see the wires going up to the camera module. Verify there's no issue there and potentially test for continuity between the MB side and the camera side of the cable. If the cable is good then it likely means the camera module itself is bad. Luckily they aren't typically too expensive...
The Acer part number for the camera module is: 57.G80NA.001
The Acer part number for the eDP cable is: 50.G80NA.003
