Ok i think i asked something similar to this but its kind of frustrating since almost nothing works. When I play games I get max temps like from around 94 but this isnt my main problem. For some reason my cpu goes to 94 but only uses 30-50 percent of it and my gpu goes at max temps also but only uses 30-50 as well. Im not sure what to do anymore any help would be helpful.

It depends on that game optimization and graphics settings(High graphics settings increase GPU/CPU usage)

This is what you need to do→
-First make sure you have correct tools to open your laptop like it is hard to open laptop back panel(you can follow some YouTube video)
-You need isopropyl alcohol 70%+ to clean old thermal paste
-You need Good quality thermal paste like grizzly kryonaut thermal paste or Arctic  MX-4 2019 edition
(While open don't damage any comments)
After opening laptop back panel first you need to clean your laptop fans and air vents.
    Follow this video for that
    https://youtu.be/uB39PPoHBpo

Now you need to clean old thermal paste completely and apply new thermal paste on chip. You can use X method on chip(draw X on GPU/CPU chip in this way that paste do not spread out of chip after assembling or applying heat sink)
    https://youtu.be/vRe0ZcZLA6w
Follow this↑video instructions to open laptop and heat sink(not for applying thermal paste method)

Follow this↓video to know how to use X method or how to apply new thermal paste

-Just apply new good quality thermal paste like Arctic MX-4 2019 edition or grizzly kryonaut correctly
(Acer stock thermal paste is useless)
-Clean laptop fans and air vents

Also i think you need to clean your laptop air vents because you use cooling pad

Cooling pads are just bad for laptop components! Pad will just blow a lot of air, dust inside your laptop, causing some sensors inside thinking they are cool, can carry on stressing the computer and you may know what dust can do. If a laptop is overheating, then it means there's something wrong with its cooling system like need to replace thermal paste or need to clean

It is Good idea if you just put your laptop on cooling but don't turn on cooling pad fans

    not anymore : (
i bought this laptop 2 years ago its the acer nitro 5 i7-8750h gtx1060
my temps range from 71-90 max at idle with around 7% usage on cpu and my gpu says its discrete idle which idk what that means. Is it broken?

Do you have any knowledge about cleaning fans, air vents and applying new thermal paste?

After following above steps your GPU/CPU temperature will not go more then 75°C while gaming and on idle your temperatures will we 40°C-45°C(may be less it depend on your room temperature)

Oh ok ill try doing that but whats bothering me is that when im gaming gpu and cpu only reaches about 30-40 percent of usage. When i see benchmarks and videos people can use up to 99% of their gpu for some reason mine is to low.

I get 3-4 degrees off with a laptop cooler pad. is a klim cyclone. works well with fans on either side of laptop style not the two on one side style. not sure your fan style.
it also stops the laptop from climbing in temps as you keep gaming.

also, you might find nitro sense utilization reading is different that task manager reading. threw me off at first as i thought my cpu was getting too hot even at low utilisation so check task manager for the correct ult reading.

not sure re the click sound

its basically double the task manager reading VS nitro sense so adds up. your cpu ad gpu probs are working close to full its just nitro sense i recon

not temps but utilization. So use nitro sense for temp and task manager ( i find) for cpu gpu utl.

ah ok btw if you dont mind me asking it says discrete gpu is idle does that mean my gpu is broken or not working because i remember someone said something like that

your gpu is fine. it flicks on and off type of thing when not used. but electricity keeps going into it so its running or idling even when your not using it in a game. If your worried about if its broken i suggest trying it out. Get a cooler pad! you get a few degrees off and stops it climbing in temps. i did a repaste with thermal grizzly and got no difference.

Same in my nitro 5, I think plastic suppose to make that clicking noise sometime (mostly while closing closing lid)

It Should be normal at least until it does`t prevent moving.

Im not sure if this is just my laptop but whenever im on idle it goes from around 60-70 and jumps to 90-96 for a few minutes. How do i make my temperatures stable even after upgrading and cleaning my laptop.

Oh, ryzen runs cooler than intel processers right, what are your idle temps mine are around 70-80 which is still prety high
  • @srawkcaBemaN
    My idle temperature 40°C-45°C
While gaming CPU goes upto 75°C and GPU upto 65°C

You will also get same result after cleaning fans, vents and apply new thermal paste
