Aspire A515-51G: no signal from HDMI

Greetings.  I have a relatively new (about a year old) A515-51G and tried using the HDMI port for the first time a few weeks ago to connect to an Epson Powerlite projector, but the laptop apparently wasn't sending a signal to the projector, so I wasn't able to duplicate my screen on it.  I also have tried to connect to a Sony Bravia LED tv (and different Epson projectors) with the same results.  I've tried different HDMI cables, deleting the graphics drivers, updating drivers, the "battery pinhole trick" under the computer, using the Fn and F5 keys to switch the display, changing the screen resolution in Windows, all to no avail.  I'm also running the latest version of Windows 10 (20H2; build 19042.610).  Any help or suggestions on how to get it to work would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!
