Hey ya'll.

My Acer spin 7 have had battery problems since day one. Kept loosing charge when not powered on.
Just booted it up for the first time in a couple of months now, no battery detected.

I have tried pulling the cable and pressingt the button with a pin, no result. Contemplating if i should open
the case and look if there's something visibly wrong and order a new battery.

Does anyone have experience with this, and do you think a new battery could work or is there a problem on the board?

THANKS ;)

Make sure you have done the full reset procedure: power down and disconnect everything, press and hold the reset button for 15-30 seconds, release and wait 15-30 minutes, reconnect power and wait for full battery indication, then turn it on. If that doesn't work then the battery has likely been drained beyond recovery. Which model Spin 7 do you have?

@billsey Hello, thank you for the reply. I have tested this properly before but i will do it again now. Did not know batterys could drain to the point they don't even show up but hopefully that is the case so a replace will do the job.
The model is: Spin SP714-51 Signature edition

That's a new enough model the battery shouldn't have failed due to age. Modern Lithium-Ion batteries have some smarts in them to disable charging if they get below a threshold that's quite a bit lower than the system critical low battery value. But sitting for a long time, even when completely off, does slowly lower the battery level. So it's possible to end up below that threshold. Without those smarts the old batteries would tend to catch on fire, and that was a 'bad thing'. :)

@billsey Ah, i see. That's good to know, thanks! I tried the reset once more without any results. Will order a new battery instead and hope for the best here :)
