A315-23-R98D two thirds of screen covered by pixel stripes

I posted here not too long ago: https://community.acer.com/en/discussion/616873/. Besides what I described there, I had no other issues while installing the OS and setting everything up. Since this isn't my main computer, I have barely used it since then.
Yesterday, when I booted it up, the screen looked like this right off the bat (splash screen and GRUB included).


I tried rebooting it a few times to see if it was something temporary, and after some tries, it suddenly went back to normal. Unfortunately, it didn't last for long, as the glitchy pixel stripes came back some seconds later (already inside the OS). At the time of writing, the screen has only gone back to normal this one time.
I figured it had nothing to do with software, but still, I tested it with another monitor, and sure enough, everything correctly showed up on it.

That's about it. Should I contact support right away or check something else first?

    If the external monitor is OK, and the BIOS setup screen on the laptop screen has the same stripes, then you either need to reseat the video ribbon cable connectors at the base of the screen and the mainboard, or replace the video ribbon cable due to trace breaks from wear and tear of opening closing the lid too much. If you haven't used it much, probably just needs reseating. Jack E/NJ

    Hey Jack, thanks for the quick response.

    Is that something I could do by myself or am I better off bringing it to a repair shop? I wouldn't want to invalidate the warranty by touching something I shouldn't.
