hi i have an

Acer aspire E5-576G-57W4

and I want to know if i can plug in an external monitor through the USB-C port as I have one plugged in through VGA and my laptop is getting really slow when I do that. And if possible is there a reason why my laptop is slowing down when connected to the external monitor??

As it could potentially make your machine run slower due to the extra work put on the video card especially connected to an external monitor. However, if you have any modern video card with the proper drivers installed, it should handle the extra load easily.

For other slow issues, there're some tips that you can use to speed up your device.

I am running off the CPU I think. and can I display off the USB-C port?

That could be working, if the monitor has a higher resolution than the laptop more processing will be required in CPU or GPU to drive the display.
    But you can try anyway.

so is USB c display output available I have USB 3.0
