WIFI connection takes up to an hour

Dear, 

I have Acer Aspire E5-571. Four years when I bought the laptop my wifi reciever (or something) had to be replaced. Now 4 years later I am having trouble again with the wifi. The thing is my laptop 'sees' my wifi router but I cannot connect, it says 'cannot connect to this network'. All other devices including other laptops have no problems connecting at all. I restarted my laptop and router several times. And than sometimes after a lot of trying and restarting it works fine all at once. Something it doesn't. Sometimes when I do not do anything, it finds connection after an hour or something on its self and after that the internet works fine for hours on end. But the next day it starts all over again.

Anyone?

Open DeviceManager. Click network folder. Right click wifi adapter. Click properties. Click advanced tab. Click 'preferred band'. Change from 'no preference' to 2.4GHz band. If this doesn't resolve problem, try 5GHz band. Jack E/NJ
