I know its a sata, not sure what type as it doesnt say either I, II or III. ( do you know??)

Will i get the full 6BG/s data transfer speed this cable?

Below is the details of the cable, whats written on it etc...

A SATA connector is a SATA connector and compatible with all SATA connectors be they spinner HDD or SSD’s, the governing factor is the hardware as the speed has no effect on the actual pug and/or cable of a SATA.

I’ve replaced a spinner HDD on an 8 year old Acer laptop and used the old spinner HDD space and its SATA connection for a Samsung EVO 850 SSD and the speeds are at 6GB/sec.

What I would also suggest after you have connected your Samsung EVO 860 SDD is to enable “TRIM” in Win-10. "TRIM" is an essential feature for an SSD to keep it on top performance and helps the drive to last much longer. "TRIM" is an ATA command set that was originally designed for the purpose of keeping a Solid State Drive at its optimal performance throughout its lifespan. The "TRIM" feature allows Win-10 or any supported operating system, to notify an SSD which blocks of data are no longer in use and can be safely wiped out to be writable again. Having this operation done ahead of time improves performance, as the drive won't have to spend time erasing a particular block when space is needed to store new data, ensuring the SSD reaches its advertised lifespan.

To enable "TRIM" bring up cmd/as an administrator > paste this cmd: fsutil behavior set DisableDeleteNotify 0  and press “Enter” to enable “TRIM” as this will increase your EVO 860 SDD considerably.

@StevenGen Thank You for your reply. Ill look into the TRIM feature but dont want files deleted without my permission.

I read that all SATA interface is same but the transfer speeds differ from generation. Heres SanDisk article supporting this

So you must of had a SATA III gen cable which is 6Gbits. Sata 2 is 3gb and sata 1 is 1.5gb.

Upon some reseach I found out sata 3 came out in 2009 but is it possible my cable is sata 2 since HDD maybe dont need 6gb/s rates and acer just cutting cost supplied me with a 3gb/s sata 2 cable???

Thanks again for you inputs mate.

Cable has nothing to do with the speed of the SATA controller so if the laptop supports SATA  3 you will get SATA 3 speed.
