Hello,

When I first bought this laptop (Aspire E5-576G-5762), the backlit keyboard worked perfectly. It would light up as I typed, and it responded to Fn + F9 as well. A couple of months later it would not light up anymore.

Fast-forward to today, I've had this laptop for more than 2 years now and the back light of the keyboard will still not turn on. I dropped my laptop briefly yesterday and the back light did come on for a few minutes, but it stopped lighting up when I restarted the laptop. This leads me to believe that the cable for the light may be loosely connected. I checked the connection and it seems fine, but still no light.

Can someone help me?

Yes. You must remove one screw in the middle of the bottom cover to slide the DVD tray out, then three screws to remove the HDD/RAM door, and 17 screws to remove the rest of the bottom cover in order to re-seat the backlight connector on the mainboard. It's either loose or its contacts are dirty or slightly corroded. Jack E/NJ
