VGA to HDMI to Desktop display problems

I bought a optiplex dell 9020 and two acer monitors. When I originally hooked all of this up last week both monitors worked with the HDMI connections.  Last week one of the monitors stopped getting a signal from the computer.  I moved that one to the VGA video cord and it works.  Now the other monitor stopped getting signal today with the VGA to HDMI connection but I don't have another VGA port.  How do I fix that? Is it a driver problem?

Are you using the same cables when connecting with the VGA->HDMI adapter? There are really only three possibilities when you lose signal like that... The monitor has gone bad (but it'd have to be both failing in the same way), the cable has gone bad (again, it'd have to be both cables) or the graphics card has gone bad (and you only have the one installed). Try doing some more diagnostics on the Dell side of things.
