I have a flickering issue I think will be fixed with a driver update. I went to the specific page for my device: https://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/support-product/7096?b=1&pn=MM.T9DAA.003

I downloaded the only driver listed, went to my device manager, tried to install it according to the instructions listed here: https://us.answers.acer.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/27830

But alas, Windows just says its already up to date with the existing non-acer driver. Does anyone have an idea what I'm doing wrong? Why is there no exe file for the driver download?

Details:
device - ED273
os - Windows 10

Download that zip file. Unzip the file.

Just go to device manager. Point to the the monitors, double click it, then go to the second tab (driver) and press update driver, then point to your unzipped folder.

I've tried that many times, it just tells me the Windows PnP driver is already installed.

Right click on the .inf file and choose Install from the menu. I would be very surprised if it made any difference to your issue though. Let us know.

What computer/GPU is connected? I think if it is a driver issue it's much more likely the driver for the GPU. Monitor drivers typically just duplicate what the plug'n'play gives. Essentially a list of supported resolutions and frequencies.

You have to completely uninstall the Microsoft Win-10 driver through “Device Manager” FIRST and then install your Acer ED273 monitor driver version 1.0 dated 2018/05/08 through “Device Manager” as instructed in your second link but and as billsey has said “I would be very surprised if it made any difference to your issue though” try these fixes for "Monitor issue - flickering or waves"

    1. Line Noise
    2. Insufficient or corrupted power supply
    3. Bad graphics adapter or driver (check gpu and update driver)
    4. Failing monitor (check monitor)
    5. Electrical disturbance (from a device, such as speakers around your monitor)
    6. Strong magnetism from a nearby source, and many other things
