Acer XV240Y graphical issues

Hello,

I purchased a new Acer XV240Y a couple weeks ago and have been having graphical issues. It is hard to describe exactly what is happening without sounding like i'm describing some other issue so i've attached a picture. The effect on the taskbar icons happens across most of the screen. This problem a) occurs around 60% of the time the monitor is on, the other 40% it is fine and b) only happens when running at 144 or 165hz.

Things I have done to try and fix the issue:

Updated GPU (GTX 1080) and monitor drivers
Made sure I am using an HDMI 2.0 cable
Swapped display ports
Swapped AC cables
Turning on/off every setting in the monitor menu
Ran a monitor test for defective pixels

Regarding my last point on the defective pixels test, whenever the problem is occurring I get problems with the red screen (see attached) but not any of the other colors.

Any help would be appreciated.

Does it happen at any of the lower frequencies, such as 120Hz?

It does not appear to happen at 120hz

OK, it could be the cable, even though it's specced at 2.0 sometimes they aren't really as good as they say they are. It could be noise getting picked up by the cable, try routing it differently so it's not near any power signals.

Haven't had any luck with re-routing the HDMI, but I've ordered a longer AC cable so I can try a different outlet.

Hello, it seems like a GPU artifact IMO
