CPU idle at around 50 C (Nitro 5 an515-54)

Hello,

My CPU is idling at 50 C, I'd like to see it more like 40 so then fans don't run this much. Fans seem to increase in speed at around 50 C, so it constantly speeds them up and slows down when idling around this temperature. I'm already running the CPU on like 55-60% power through the battery saving profile, but it's obviously not enough.

What can I do to get my CPU down to 40?

What model is it? Can you post the specs?

The fan volume at 50C should not be noticeable unless you are in a very, very quiet room and are not wearing headphones. Could it be that your fans are too loud? In that case, you should send it for repair(assuming that you find the noise annoying), even though it is harmless for now. Making it stay under 50 all the time while idling sounds practically impossible. There are always some core processes which can make temperatures and resource usage spike and dip. It might be possible, technically, but I haven't heard of it.

Besides, if you only care about reducing fan volume, then check Acer website to see if your model is compatible with NitroSense. If it is, then use it to manually control fan speed. Just remember to switch back to automatic speed before starting any resource intensive tasks.

I would recommend you to just let the fans run how they want. Post a video here so that we can know how "loud" your fans really sounds at 50C. Exposure to dust is one cause of noisy fans, but as I said, if you're really concerned, it's better to send in for servicing. I assume it's fairly new and you are under warranty.

The model name is in the title. Nitro 5 An515-54.
    Speccs are:
     RTX 2060
    i5-9300h
    16 gb RAM

The fans at 50 C are indeed fairly quiet. It’s just when it’s a silent room that they’re noticeable. However, I don’t think a laptop running on idle should make any noise at all and since I can’t change the fanspeed, even with the NitroSense program I have to figure out how to lower CPU temp.

Even at 48% power now, the CPU still remains at above 50 shortly after startup and I don’t see any reason for it.

Well, after all's said and done, laptop's cooling efficiency is nowhere as good as that of a desktop. I am not familiar with your model, but I don't think you should expect it to run any cooler than that. As far as I know, nitro models are similar in design and they all have the same positioning of fans. It's ..... not a very cooling-friendly design.
I know people who have i5-9300H and I believe an idle of 50C is quite low. You are being a little unreasonable if you expect it go any lower. The fan speed, you'll just have to live with it. I thought that nitrosense had the option to adjust fan speed, just like predatorsense.
Anyway, you could try disabling turbo boost on the CPU using throttlestop or something. It reduces load and hence makes the fans quieter, but this is while playing games. I don't know how much it can reduce when idle, if it can reduce, that is.
