Acer Aspire A515-51-58XP - Touchap not Working in Advance Mode!

I have Acer Aspire A515-51-58XP & using windows 10 and using it from past 1 year. But from 11/09/20 my touchpad stopped working after a recent Windows 10 update. Earlier it was working fine in Windows 10.

No touchpad driver in Acer device driver page - https://www.acer.com/ac/en/IN/content/support-product/7244

After switching from Advance to Basic from BIOS touchpad is working but gestures are not working. In Advance mode shows yellow exclamation mark in Device Manager "I2C HID Device".

I tried few troubleshooting but nothing works:-
1. Updating drivers but shows already best installed.
2. Troubleshooting from Windows Settings.
3. sfc scan and dism
4. Tried many drivers from google (Synaptics and elan)
5. Updated BIOS to latest.
6. Re-installed Intel Series I/O drivers.
7. Uninstalled I2C drivers from Device Manager and restart the system.

Can anyone suggest any possible solution to get the touchpad advance mode working? Please help.

OK. Good. Worth a try if advanced mode touchpad behavior is critical. If it were my laptop, I could live without advanced mode touchpad behavior.

Windows is already updated and no driver/any update is pending.

I will try to update to v2.03.

Installed 2.03 but still same.

How can I know which touchpad I have? Elan or Synaptics?

Open ACER Care Center in the Windows start menu to see if the touchpad mfr is identified. Jack E/NJ

Nothing showing in Acer Care Center related to touchpad.

Tried everything I could but now seems only option is to wait for windows update or acer driver update.

Will try latter to reset the windows when I got time.

Open ControlPanel. Search 'restore point'. Click 'create a restore point'. If SystemProtection is turned on in the box the pops up, click SystemRestore button. Click next. Choose the restore point the coincides with the date stamp when the advance feature stopped working. Jack E/NJ

No restoration point available.

Was there a show hidden restore points box? If not, the update was probably already automatically erased. Are you sure the SystemProtection box was turned on? Jack E/NJ

No restoration point before the problem occurred. Only recent ones available.

Anyway will wait for some update and revert back if I found something.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it was the last major Win10 update which was the culprit. It has its numerical signatures in the HID devices. If you haven't already, you could download and try iobit's DriverBooster freeware to see if it'll pick up anything. Jack E/NJ

Tried already but its picking some Lenovo Keyboard Drivers and its not working.

Yes. It shows yellow sign and its keyboard drivers rather than touchpad.

How about uninstalling 6 and restarting instead of re-installing? Jack E/NJ

Done this too but not worked.

Found that latest windows update include something related to mouse/keyboard which broke the touchpad in advance mode which was enabled at the time of update:-

September 8, 2020—KB4571756 (OS Build 19041.508)

I wonder if it might be worth going on the MS forums to see if it can be rolled back to the previous version 10.0.18363 or even earlier.Check for any rollback options in DeviceManager? If none, press W+I and click update/security and see if there might be a rollback history in the WinUpdate advance options Jack E/NJ

Rollback option not available neither in Device Manager nor in Windows update.

You only have about a month or less to discover the problem and use the restore point. Then it's auto deleted. Guess you'll just have to wait unless the MS forums can suggest a way of getting back to last November's release. Jack E/NJ
