    Most PCIe cards don't support booting. A PCIe x1 slot is only going to give SATA performance, why not just use a SATA SSD?

    there are no places on the motherboeard for the wires. I'll have to remove the hdd

    There should be two SATA slots for drives, and a third for optical (half the speed of the others). Your HDD should be in one, can't you use the other for the SSD or do you have two HDDs?
