I hope that title got the attention of an Acer Employee.
This is a long and tedious story of my faulty laptop and the terrible job Acer has done trying to help. I will link threads that provide more detail into each issue.
Essentially, I believe that a batch of Nitro 7 Laptop's received faulty motherboards. There are others who have had the same issues. It started out shortly after buying the laptop. I realized that the battery wouldn't charge. It says (plugged in) but the percentage doesn't increase. Obviously I sent it in for repair, which took a month. Despite the fact that my laptop received power through the charging adapter and the battery percentage stayed the same when plugged in, I was sent my laptop with a new adapter. They were somehow able to get the laptop to 100% charge (there are temporary solutions, as I explain in another thread.) However, this didn't solve the problem. I made some community threads where I found out information about the problem as well as other people with the same problem. Someone suggested that it was the motherboard freaking out when the charger is unplugged while the laptop is off. With this new information, I sent the laptop in again, this time explaining multiple times what was going on and leaving a paper imploring that they actually fix the issue if it is caused by a faulty motherboard. Needless to say they did a temporary fix and the issue persisted afterwards. That was after waiting a month and a half after sending it in. Now my warranty is just about up and it would be impossible for me to send the laptop in again at this point. I had resigned to having to deal with a laptop that doesn't charge and can never leave my desk, but I've also started encountering issues with the headphone jack. With both a headset and a pair of earbuds, I had accidentally unplugged them while the laptop was off and now they don't work. When I plug them in, the popup appears asking if I plugged in a headphone, but it continues to use the speakers. I'm not sure if it is related to the motherboard, but I think the problem lies with doing anything while the laptop is off. Both the earbuds and headset didn't show up in Control Panel > Sound or when clicking on the speaker icon on the bottom right when they worked.
I'll continue to try to fix the audio jack issue, and I guess I'll just deal with the laptop being unable to charge, but it really sucks to have a laptop as expensive as this be faulty, and it sucks more that I can't get it fixed. Maybe there's merit in forcing acer to replace it? I don't know, all I know is that I've been civil and understanding with the miscommunication and acer's inability to fix the actual problem, and now I'm too fed up to deal with it again. I tried everything to get it fixed the second time I sent it in, and it didn't work. I don't think I have a better chance of getting it fixed if I send it in the third time, and my warranty is just about up anyway.
I also suggested a product recall for the laptops with the faults, but an acer employee said they'd like me to send it in for repair. That obviously didn't work.
Anyway, thank you for trying acer, and for all of the information I've received on the community, but next time around I'll probably make my own gaming pc. At least I won't be buying another gaming laptop, cause it seems like there will always be a problem. This isn't entirely acer's fault, it just started as a problem with the laptop which could have been fixed but when the laptop got to the acer repair team, where it really mattered, they got fooled by temporary solutions and missed the underlying problem.
Thanks for reading this far, and if there are any acer employees here, I'd just like to ask for suggestions or if there is any possibility of rectifying the situation without sending the laptop in again.
