I have a Nitro 7 Gaming Laptop. I have a headset that used to work, but now when I plug it in to the audio jack, I get the popup asking if I've connected headphones and when I hit "OK" the sound continues to come out of the speakers. The weird thing is that even when the sound went through the headset the computer never acknowledged that it existed. When clicking the audio icon on the bottom right or looking in "Sounds" in Control Panel it says it's using the speakers, not any connected headset. I have a pair of earbuds which also worked for a time. I unplugged the earbuds while the computer was off and they stopped working. I would plug them in, get the popup, hit "OK", and the sound would come out of the speakers. Then, when I got the popup, I tried hitting the arrow in the top right and for some reason the earbuds worked. Still, there is no acknowledgement of the earbuds being used at all when I go to Control Panel>Sounds.

This is all very confusing. It should pick up the earbuds or headset and show them in "Sounds," correct? Instead it says it's using the speakers, and sometimes the sound goes nowhere or out of the speakers.

Quick Side Note: Not sure if the problem lies with the motherboard. My laptop does not charge. After some digging in the community and asking questions, I figured out that others had that problem with the same model. It's possible some of these laptops have faulty motherboards which freak out when the adapter is plugged in or unplugged while the laptop is off, as has been speculated. I sent the laptop in twice but acer never fixed the problem. The only reason I think the two issues may be related is because the headset and earbuds stopped working when I unplugged them while the laptop was off.

Any suggestions would be great. Thank you in advance.
