Some viruses can damage the BIOS of a PC. If it happen people may need to replace the motherboard, and it is usually a major project.

While updating the BIOS is usually simple by downloading from the hardware sites, I have never tried to backup the BIOS.
Anyone can tell me how to backup my TC-885 BIOS with a USB flash drive?

Thanks!

Firstly, anything BIOS related and/or any modifications which includes a BIOS backup is not encouraged on ‘Acer Community”! There are BIOS backup toolkits but, you have to be very careful because, if a problem occurs, then the chances are that you will BRICK your PC and that is why its not recommended here. Using an application to backup a BIOS is not safe and can be dangerous and could brick your PC, its not as safe as for instance backing a folder up and/or a hard drive up etc.

    Dear StevenGen,

I thought the backup files for BIOS will be something like that of downloaded BIOS upgrade files.

I understand if there is any hiccup during BIOS flashing it usually means trouble.

Seemed people have to get third party software for BIOS backup instead  of some standard procedure, is that right?
