My files disappeared after I moved them to the Personal Secure Drive created through Acer ProShield

Hello,
I hope somebody can help me. I have an Acer Travelmate P273-M, running Windows 7 and Avast Premium Security.

Yesterday, I decided to try out the Personal Secure Drive in the Acer ProShield software. I opened the drive, and then moved 3 folders with personal, important files in them, into the drive, which had been labelled as E on my computer. This seemed to work, and when I went into the drive to see that they were there, I discovered that not only were my 3 folders in there, but for some reason it had created copies of the 3 folders as well, so instead of having 3 folders in the drive, I had 6.

I don't know why it created 3 copies of the 3 folders, but I didn't need the copies, so I deleted the copy folders, assuming that it would be ok because the "original" 3 folders were still there. However, after deleting the copies, I tried to open the original 3 folders to check all my files were in there, and they had all disappeared. I tried searching my main C drive, the newly created E drive and the whole computer for the files, but they were nowhere to be found. I tried to do a system restore, to earlier that same day, but it made no difference. I seem to have lost them and I don't know why. Could it be because I deleted the copy folders? Does anyone know how this personal secure drive works exactly? I would think that you would be able to see your own files and folders that you put in there, they should only be hidden from other people.

The documents were mostly word processor documents, saved with Libre Office, as I do not have Microsoft Word. I think Libre Office may have something to do with this because before I did this, I kept getting a pop up on all my documents saying they were "locked for editing by unknown user".

I am at my wits end and need these files back. Can anyone help?
