Does overclocking a monitor harm laptop components in any way?

I heard people saying overclocking a  monitor over default may wear out the monitor quickly and even damage GPU in certain cases. I have Nitro 5 AN515-54 which has normal refresh rate of 60Hz. I want to overclock the monitor to 90Hz which can be done using CRU I have tried it but I'm not sure to continue using the display panel in 90Hz. Should I keep using panel in normal refresh rate or should I take advantage of overclocking?. Please let me know. Any suggestion will be appreciated.
