I'm only moderately tech savvy and I need to fix this connectivity issue for my 12 yo son. Looked at network status and it says its not connected to any networks. Tried Show avaliable networks and it brought me to the same network status page. Troubleshooting says I need to connect an ethernet cable (of which I do not own) to the router (of which I cannot easily access). Tried the Get help thats located in the the upper right corner but it won't work because I need internet access for help. Viewed my network properties and under Wi-Fi the status is Not operational and connectivity states that its disconnected. Went to network and sharing center clicked Set up a new network where it brought me to Chose the router or access point I'd like to configure however it never showed any new networks. I'm frustrated and have no idea where am I supposed to go from here. Do you have any solution that doesn't involve opening up and possibly breaking my sons laptop?

Firstly, what is the model number of your laptop and what model WiFi/BT PCIe card (look in “Device Manager” or open the back to see) does it have? With the WiFi and BT features its all got to do with drivers, physical connection (black/white antenna wires) if they are not connected then the card won’t work, then its the condition of the actual WiFi/BT PCIe card, if its not faulty or damaged.

Uninstall the old drivers from “Device Manager” at “Network adaptors” for WiFi and at “Device Manager” “Bluetooth” for the BT, then reinstall new drivers from the Acer site “support” for that laptop. Also as “batmalin” has mentioned after reinstalling the new drivers and the WiFi/BT doesn’t activate press F3 key or Fn+F3 keys together to activate the WiFi/BT functions.
