Please suggest how to turn on the laptop SF-315-41 if the keyboard is disconnected from MB.
Half of the keys don't work, 2 year laptop. Using onscreen keyboard now.
Tried driver reinstall , windows repair &reinstall . Booted linux live, same issue everywhere .

If I could disconnect the KB cable from & use a wired HP keyboard , 102 keys, how can the laptop be switched on? thank you .

Have you disassembled enough to check that the keyboard cable is well seated in it's connector? Sometimes taking it out and putting it back in a few times will clean the contacts enough to overcome corrosion. The power key (I believe) is just a contact closure on that keyboard cable, as opposed to the serial data the rest of the keys generate. It might be possible to connect to the cable with a momentary switch, but it would require a fair amount of discovery since I don't know which traces do what...

Yes, it indeed was difficult tracing. Finally ended up giving it to the service center, they have replaced it with another model keyset, unlike the original the FN functions are misplaced. I guess will have to remap most of the keys now.
