Recently, I just reformated my laptop because I installed an SSD on it. After I'm downloading the updates, I noticed that it downloads a insyde something from the windows update. After downloading the update then install all the updates, my laptop restarted and updates its BIOS right away. It went successful though. But my question is that is this safe? I don't see any 1.18 BIOS update on acer drivers. Currently the latest version released on acer drivers on BIOS section is 1.17 which I believe it fixes the PSP hanging something. I also want to know what improvements or any changes with 1.18. Is this a bug or something? If this is unintended, can I downgrade my BIOS? I'm scared to do so as I'm a afraid it might brick the laptop all together.

Am I the only one getting this update from windows update? I'm just curious and also assuring that this update BIOS from windows update will not break my laptop on the long run. I didn't find any changes on performance so it must have something. Thanks for a fast response!

Many security vulnerabilities like meltdown and spectre can only be fully fixed by bios updates. There are at least half a dozen vulnerabilities in the last 3 years.
