So, ever since ive got the laptop (nitro 5 an515-54-5659), the microphone has been abysmal, people say that while talking i suddenly become very quiet, then my voice goes back up to normal, then very quiet again to the point of almost not hearing me. At first i thought that maybe the built in microphone was bad, so i bought a set of usb headphones with a built in mic as well and does the very exact same thing. Is almost as if its trying to mask background noise but it just brings everything down with it? im not sure how to explain it. Also when the volume of my voice goes down, friends tell me they can hear static sometimes as well. Again this happens with both the built in mic and the headset mic, both show the same behavior.

So far what i tried as far as my research as gone:
- not allowing applications to take exclusive control of the device
-turned any processing or anything like that under microphone properties.
- i use skype mainly (way to be with the times right? lol) and also turned off any settings related to the microphone there (automatically adjust microphone settings)
- reinstalled drivers.

That leads me to believe maybe there is a piece of software im not aware that is trying to do something but is just messing things up?

thank you guys for any help in advance!

I have what seems like the same problem with an Aspire V3 575.   did you ever find a fix?
