Hello,

I have Acer Swift 3 314-42, I'm very happy with it. But I wanted to know, what would happen if I plug my charger to USB-C port?

Quick question for you, is there any sign drawn next to the port? Like two parallel lines one of them being dashed? If there is, then your USB Type-C port is capable of PowerDelivery and you can use it to charge your laptop.

If there isn't, plugging a charger will not damage the machine either, or rather, it shouldn't, there are usually protections against those sorts of things. There are even protections like that in the data lines and not only the power lines thanks to those USB killer things haha.

Anyway, check for those markings ;)

There may be more, one that resembles a screen with the wording USB next to it, that one would mean it implements at least one of the alternate modes for display output, like DisplayPort.

Here is the spec from the service guide:
    and the right side view:
So it looks as if they are saying you can charge devices off the USB-C port, but not charge the laptop. I'd love to be proved wrong though. :)

You're right. I've tried connecting 25W USB-C charger to my Swift - nothing happened. 😉

    UPDATE.

It doesn't charge 314-42 with 21W charger. But it does work with 60W USB-C charge.
