So hey I have a laptop from Acer Named Acer V5-431 and I am having problems while installing Linux in it. It shipped with Windows 7 it has a Pentium 987 CPU and 4GB of DDR3 1333mhz ram. Could anyone help me with this issue?

It depends on what the issue is, so far you have told us details on the laptop itself but not on the issue you're having.

Try to be as descriptive as possible, the more information we have about what's going on the easier it would be to give you advice. For example, what have you tried so far? Which Linux distribution are you trying to install? Are you even able to boot into the live Linux environment? If not, how did you create the bootable media?

It may seem like a bombardment of questions haha, sorry about that, but they're all relevant. The answers to each of them tells us different things, and where you're at in the installation process.

For example, say you're able to access the live environment but you can't see the internal disk of the laptop from there. the solution would be to switch the SATA operation mode from RST (or whatever is called in your machine) to AHCI.

That's just an example, but yep, we're missing information to be able to make informed recommendations.

So what actually happens is that after plugging the bootable USB pendrive of Zorin OS Core. Then when I boot nothing happens. Like there are random codes like [[6~ and then it says writes many lines of code. So should I upgrade my bios? As my machine shipped with Win 7 and that too with Bios but the machine that shipped with Win8 has Uefi. So should I upgrade my bios?

I'm sorry it took too long to reply, I got sidetracked and this question disappeared from the list I had to reply to.

Just to check, I downloaded the current Zorin OS Core build (I didn't even knew that stuff existed) and boot it on a VM, it went alright, even in UEFI mode. Seems to be based on Ubuntu 18.04 so you shouldn't have any problem booting.

I don't think you need to upgrade your firmware for it though, which revision of the firmware do you have? For example, if you were on 2.17 I wouldn't upgrade to 2.18. And if you were on a 1.x release I wouldn't risk upgrading to the 2.x branch because of that "Not for Upgrades" text that appears next to the first 2.x firmware release.

Are you sure the USB drive was created correctly? You could try re-creating it, with Rufus for example these would be the proper options (although it selected them automatically):

Disregard that "Large FAT32" stuff, that's because the test drive I was using was a virtual one of 2TBs, for a normal USB stick it would be plain FAT32. But the resulting image works on both UEFI and legacy systems. When asked select to burn it as an ISO, there's no need for dd for this distribution.

The only setting that could need changing if you're running in UEFI mode is Secure Boot, that you may need to disable, apart from that you shouldn't have any problems.
