Before anyone flags or deletes this, my name is Andrew, I'm a Security Engineer with 13 years experience and a CISSP for half of that time with 30 years as a tinkerer under my belt working on computers since age 5 installing Windows 3.1 using floppy disks.(When you break your $1000 toy and mom says to fix it, you fix it.. I could read and was in the gifted program @ my school)

I realize that sharing the instructions publicly on this forum is not acceptable but, to save time calling acer as they probably have busy telephone lines, can someone PM me the instructions for accessing the Advanced BIOS. I had unlocked it previously a few months back using some instructions I had but for the life of me, can't remember now the steps. I can download the bios either using Intel's UEFI utility and restore using a clip on connector directly to the chip on the mobo if I really need to but would like to avoid that.  I'll provide whatever details you need to verify my skills, knowledge or credentials and to sign off on indemnity or liability for damage since I don't expect anyone to kiss my boo boos if I brick it and need to restore.

A man after my own heart!! Hello there @AndrewGalati!

I am afraid to tell you thought that the current ACUA (the community rules) prohibits us from exploring this kind of stuff as if falls under the circumventing security rule.

But in any case, generally speaking, since you're able to dump the contents of the SPI ROM chip should anything happen during tinkering you have but to restore it and you'd be golden again.

I wish we could talk more about it, from a learning point of view even, but we must abide by the rules. I believe this thread will be closed, not deleted, but closed.

Hi, unfortunatelly you will not get the key combination either here nor from Acer. Since you have a SPI programmer, dump your BIOS and go to the BIOS mods forums, they will unlock it for you(it is a few bytes edit). It`s a shame that Acer is not allowing us to control the fans, RAM, GPU and so on. It would be nice to have a section in the Acer website which allows you to download unlocked BIOS with providing your S/N in return and agreement that your warranty will be no longer valid, but that`s it. We are no loger real owners anymore. Everyone is telling you how to use their product these days. And yeah this topic will be closed soon!
